Abstract:
Scholars have considered the issue of how intolerance might be converted to tolerance - how it can be “unlearned” - although most results are discouraging. In his presentation, James L. Gibson will review the various mechanisms by which intolerance might be unlearned. He will pay particular attention to the role of universities in this process, and to the many controversies that currently threaten to undermine a culture of tolerance within the academy.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions afterwards.
Registration is not necessary. Participation via Zoom is possible on request. We look forward to your participation!
The event is funded by the tu.hosts program of the Graduate Center of TU Dortmund University.
