Starting your studies...

First semester

To start your studies on solid ground, you must look at the study plan, the module handbook, and the examination regulations. These three will be crucial orientation points throughout the entire course of your studies.

At the beginning of each semester, student representatives of the Fachschaftsrat Philosophy and Political Science will organize an orientation for new students. We recommend attending the orientation events if you would like to meet your fellow students or need help planning your schedule.

Here you will find an updated overview of the current schedule, which lists all the courses you can choose from.

When planning your studies, your letter of admission will give you important information about individual requirements, and the study plan will give you a good overview of the courses to be chosen:

  • In the Requirements section of your letter of admission, you can see which three of the Foundational Courses you have to choose for M1.
  • Please be aware, that in order to fulfill admission requirements some students will have to choose additional courses during their first semesters. These can be found in the Admission Requirements section of your letter of admission. More information about admission requirements can be found in the FAQ.
  • Keep in mind that you have to choose two out of the three interdisciplinary clusters. Please choose your courses accordingly.

At the beginning of each semester you are required to register via LSF for your courses within the designated deadlines. Exceptions from these deadlines can be made for first semester students. You can find a detailed guide on how to use LSF in the FAQ section of this website.

During your studies…

Start of the semester
Before the start of each semester (usually end of March/September) you have to start with your course registration for the following semester. Please note the respective registration deadlines, which may vary depending on the institute.

You can register for lectures and seminars via LSF. You can find a detailed guide on how to use LSF in the FAQ section of this website. Don't hesitate to get in touch with the relevant lecturer if registration is impossible for technical reasons.

End of the Semester
Towards the end of each semester, you have to register for your exams and course work. Be aware that course registration does not automatically entail registration for an exam or course work.

Coursework and module examinations must always be registered via BOSS. You can find a detailed guide on how to use BOSS in the FAQ section of this website.

Please also note the respective deadlines for registration and deregistration. If registration or deregistration is impossible for technical reasons, please contact Thomas Bergermann in the Central Examination Office.

Internships
Module 9 focuses on gaining practical experience during an internship. You can deepen your chosen focus of study in international organizations, associations, foundations and many other institutions. More detailed information about the module can be found in the module handbook.

In the internship guide, you will find all relevant information and requirements on how to register and complete the internship. Additional information can be found in the FAQ. If you need inspiration on what internships to consider, you can ask the Marepol Coordination for a list of internship opportunities.
